Dall'Era Valerio opened its doors to students from the ITIS of Vobarno, one of the best-known technical institutes for school preparation in the industrial field. The initiative was promoted by the Associazione Industriale Bresciana (AIB), Italy's oldest industrial association that represents hundreds of companies and of which Dall'Era Valerio is a member. The AIB has been promoting the meeting between school and business for years, so that working talents are born that can support business growth.

PMI DAY, now in its 10th year in 2019, involved 91 companies that welcomed 40 schools for a total of 3,500 students. It was a valuable opportunity that allowed students to get a closer look at the manufacturing processes of the province of Brescia, known worldwide for its long tradition in industrial production. With this in mind, Dall'Era Valerio also wanted to make its contribution in a virtuous process of school-to-work alternation.

Sixty students discovering the brass nut production cycle

During the morning of Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019, the Sabbio Chiese headquarters hosted 60 students from two fourth classes addressing "mechanics and mechatronics" and "mechanics and energy" of the Istituto d'Istruzione Superiore Giacomo Perlasca di Vobarno (ITIS). Accompanied by teachers Auriemma Nunzia, Massimo Persico and Mauro Faberi, the students were welcomed by CEO Alberto Dall'Era, who gave an overview of a group with more than 50 years of experience, today able to manage the entire production cycle from stamping to sandblasting, from tooling to turning to the threading of brass nuts and fittings, which are exported to 37 countries worldwide.

The production visit

After equipping everyone present with safety equipment, the visit was accomplished along the production line that houses a fleet of more than 50 state-of-the-art machines, including Hatebur machines, which impressed the students with their speed of operation. The students then proceeded to the various departments, where managers explained the production processes and, in particular, the company's extreme focus on product quality. The rejection of defective brass nuts is reduced to a few dozen out of millions of pieces made.

Manufacturing in search of talent

Technical notes and curiosities emerged along the way, reiterating once again how crucial it is for students to meet excellent companies to see the work up close and not just experience theories in books. But it is also useful for companies to encourage meeting days with students in the hope of meeting motivated future workers. Indeed, because of Brescia's high vocation in specialized quality manufacturing, many companies complain of a constant shortage of skilled workers. In order to sustain growth, Dall'Era Valerio is also continually looking for highly trained technical figures with a passion for industrial processes.
